The floor that holds the licence

A BIS licence is granted against an audited process, not a purchase order. These are the shops that process runs through — and the reason core, winding, tanking and testing are not sub-contracted.

Manufacturing

Four shops, one building

Each of these covers a step the BIS licence audits. Keeping them together is what makes the certification defensible and the repair path short.

Winding Shop

HV and LV coils are wound in-house on our own machines. Winding quality is what sets load loss and short-circuit withstand, so it is not a process we sub-contract.

Core Cutting & Stacking

Core laminations are cut and stacked to the design. Core geometry decides the no-load loss the transformer will carry every hour of its life.

Tank Fabrication

Tanks, radiators and conservators are fabricated, welded, leak-tested and painted on site, then matched to the core and coil assembly they were designed around.

Assembly & Tanking

Core and coil assemblies are clamped, braced, tanked and filled with treated insulating oil, with the crane capacity to handle units through the full rating range.

Testing

Nothing ships untested

Routine tests are what turn a specification into a verifiable claim. The certificate that ships with a unit is also the baseline every later maintenance reading gets compared against.

Turns RatioConfirms the winding ratio matches the design on every tap position.
in-house
Winding ResistanceDetects bad joints, broken strands and incorrect connections before dispatch.
in-house
Insulation ResistanceVerifies the insulation system between windings and to earth.
in-house
No-Load Loss & CurrentMeasures the core loss the unit will draw continuously for its whole life.
in-house
Load Loss & ImpedanceMeasures copper loss and the impedance that fixes fault level and parallel operation.
in-house
Applied VoltageProves the insulation between each winding and earth by applying a raised voltage for one minute.
in-house
Induced Over VoltageStresses the insulation BETWEEN turns of the same winding, which the applied-voltage test cannot reach.
in-house
Dielectric Strength (BDV)Tests the insulating oil, before and after filtration.
Impulse WithstandType test simulating a lightning strike on the winding insulation.
Temperature RiseType test confirming the unit stays within its insulation class under full load.

Quality control

Caught before it is buried in a tank

Checks happen at hold points through the build, not only at the end. Once a core and coil assembly is tanked and filled, finding a fault costs a great deal more than preventing one.

  1. Incoming Material

Core laminations, conductor and insulating materials are checked against specification before they enter the shop.

  2. In-Process Checks

Winding, stacking and assembly are checked at defined hold points rather than only at the end, so a fault is caught before it is buried inside a tank.

  3. Routine Testing

Every unit goes through the full routine test set before dispatch. No unit ships on a partial result.

  4. Documentation

Test certificates are issued with each transformer, giving the buyer the commissioning baseline that all later maintenance readings get compared against.
